The Club welcomed Alan Trayes, a visiting speaker, who gave an informative and balanced talk about Fracking at the meeting on 14th November 2019. The Club’s members obtained a good understanding of the processes and issues involved.

The Club’s quarterly lunch took place after the meeting.

The meeting started with reports on the Club’s busy agenda. The bowlers’ annual dinner is in late November and the programme of indoor bowling is ongoing throughout the winter.

The Club walk on 7th November was a 5 mile circular route around Peover with lunch at The Dog. It was a wet day and the thoughtful landlord anticipated that the walkers might be cold and damp and lit a wonderful log fire to help them enjoy the excellent food and beer. The next walk is on 21st November on a five mile route in Manchester on the Ashton, Rochdale and the Bridgewater Canals.

The IT group met immediately before the Club meeting and discussed computer and website password management. The issues surrounding the collapse of Thomas Cook resulted in a lively debate at the discussion group in early November. The Bridge players meet on 22nd November for their regular supper and bridge evening at Knutsford Golf Club.

The annual Tatton Park walk takes place in early December followed by lunch at Giovanni’s. There are several other Club events in the run up to Christmas including the half yearly lunch at Statham Lodge and Christmas at Tatton, both of which are being attended by about 70 members and guests.
