At the last meeting David Howard said that Jerry Bentley’s organisation of the annual three day walking holiday deserved five stars. The party was based in Bangor at the Management Centre in the University and made the most of their short stay. They had a 4.75 miles walk from Abergwyngregyn to Aber Falls before lunch on arrival and a three miles walk in the afternoon  around Newborough Nature Reserve and Forest. They moved into Anglesey the next morning with a three miles  walk around Llandonna  followed by  a 4.5 miles stroll across fields to the banks of the Menai Straits. Then on the final morning  in heavy rain they had a five miles  walk around Llyn Padarn past the National Slate Museum and through the area where Colonel John  Hunt and his team trained before climbing Everest in 1953.

A group are to visit the Chester Zoo on June 4 organised by Mike Jphnson.

Jim Flett has volunteered to organise the annual Summer Holiday next year but the Club are still looking for a replacement for Richard Fenby as Social Secretary.

John Newhouse told the meeting that Scott Martin had given an excellent presentation on the history of the UK Rail Network at the last Discussion Group meeting. The next meeting on June 4  will have as its subset Artificial Intelligence.

The Bowls team continued their up-and-down  season with a loss at home to Lymm Probus 68-96. They have now played six, won two, drew one and lost three .

Bruce Marriott celebrated his 90th birthday with  drinks all round  after Rev. Michael Burgess  of Warburton gave a humerous  talk on “Fun, Faith and Fellowship” which was really his life story which took him to many places  in this country and abroad.
