The normal meetings are part-social, part-business, part-educational and part pure enjoyment. They are held normally from 10.00 to 13.00 on the second and fourth Thursdays in the month at Mere and Tabley Community Club. In December, we only meet on the second Thursday.
Members first enjoy a social coffee and a chat for 30 minutes. This is followed by a brief Club business meeting setting out our forthcoming activities, which runs from 10.30 for 30 minutes, and then by a talk from an excellent invited speaker. After that, the bar is open until 1.00pm for those who wish to continue with the social side of our activity.
It is this series of meetings that prospective new members generally attend for a couple of visits to make sure the Club is right for them, prior to a third at which they join.
Speakers
There are aa total of 23 meetings during the year, this gives us the opportunity to invite a wide range of local speakers and club members to talk to us on their experiences, employment, interests, hobbies, history etc. by use of photographs, videos, maps, samples of their subject, song or just their skill to entertain.
Recently we have had talks on:
- Strangeways Prison
- Travels in China, Burma and Russia
- Joyce Grenfell
- Robert Burns
- Knutsford Past and Present

- Sundials
- Lyme Hall.
- A geologist’s view of Fracking
- A Tribute to Tommy Cooper

We attempt to bring subjects of interest to all our meetings through feedback from our members and other clubs.
