Club Meeting – 13th December
Speaker Mr Gordon Bartley whose subject was “Flying’s a Wonderful Thing”.
Gordon Bartley is a life-long flying enthusiast, from his early days in the fifties as an Air Force Cadet, through obtaining a private pilot’s licence, into a career with BAe.
Throughout this time he had a strong interest in photography and when redundancy brought his BAe employment to an end it was too photography, both as a lecturer and a freelance aircraft photographer that he turned to make his living.
Gordon took his audience through this life in a series of first class photographic images of all manner of aircraft. From the First World War string and canvas biplanes of the Shuttleworth Collection to the latest composite US Stealth Bomber everything seemed to be there (except TSR2?) as a pristine photographic image.
It was his third cassette of slides that took us into the world of “out-takes” and unplanned images and it was also this third cassette that took us well beyond our normal finishing time.
Derek Empson, who had personal experience of a number of the aircraft shown in the slides, gave Gordon a very generous vote of thanks and the members showed their appreciation of a high quality illustrated talk.

Tatton Walk – 4th December
Walkers tuck in to lunch after a pleasant walk around Tatton Park.
The poor weather deterred many of the long and short walkers from venturing into Tatton Park, only seven tackling the long walk, however a good turn-out of 29 walkers and partners sat down to an excellent lunch in Giovanni’s in Knutsford.
