Wednesday 31st August 2022 – Bowls – Weaver Probus v Knutsford Rex Probus

Knutsford Rex Probus Bowling Team 2022.

As the Knutsford bowlers arrived at the Owley Wood Bowling Club green they were greeted by their friends from Weaver Probus in their usual hospitable way. The green however was less friendly as it was very hard due to the recent long spell of dry weather and a quick practice bowl confirmed that the main challenge was to keep the bowl on the green.

Once the match started it was a common for the jack to end up in the gutter and even more common for the players bowl to also find its way off the green. But with each game taking longer than usual due to the many restarts it was obvious from the half time break that both teams were struggling but this also made the competition very close.

As the final pairs came off the green the bowlers waited in anticipation for the final result. And, to a great deal of satisfaction, Knutsford came out winners by 74 points to 67.

Weaver then provided an excellent buffet lunch in the excellent clubhouse for all present to which Knutsford Rex Probus express their sincere thanks.

Wednesday 24th August 2022 – Bowls – Knutsford Rex Probus v Appleton Probus

On another sunny day down at the Knutsford Bowling Club green the Rex bowlers entertained the highly competitive bowlers from Appleton. This fixture has a tradition of being at a high standard with many of the Appleton team being regular club bowlers. Unfortunately on the day Knutsford had a somewhat depleted team with Captain Roger Collins and regular Jim Flett both missing on holiday. The final result of Rex 84 Appleton 97 was never in doubt but everyone enjoyed the afternoon with smiles all round. Knutsford Rex have still to visit Appleton this season so there will be a chance to even the honours.

Tuesday 23rd August 2022 – Social – Visit to Wollerton Old Hall Gardens

Members, wives and widows visited Wollerton Old Hall Gardens near Market Drayton, Shropshire. The 4-acre plot has been divided into individual separate gardens on a grid system, and the ‘hot garden’, consisting of plants of vibrant colours of yellow and red, was particularly striking. After the tour an excellent cream tea was enjoyed by all.

Wednesday 17th August 2022 – Bowls – Knutsford Rex v Wilmslow Fulshaw Probus

Another sunny day down at the Knutsford Bowling Club green. This time for Rex to meet their friends from Wilmslow Fulshaw Probus.

The Fulshaw team is well represented by many club bowlers so this fixture is always a real test. Rex came away from Wilmslow earlier in the season with a win so their opponents were on for revenge.

As the afternoon progressed the scores coming in suggested a sizable margin of victory for Fulshaw and at the end this is how the match finished. Congratulations to Fulshaw on the 81 to 67 points victory and as for Rex they will dust themselves down in anticipation of the next fixture which is at home to Appleton Probus on Wednesday 24th August at 2pm.
